Heritage Day in the Upper Vjosa Valley, Përmet
On the 29th of September 2017, CeRPHAAL, in partnership with the Municipality of Përmet, organized a program of activities to celebrate the Heritage Day. The event aimed to introduce the area’s heritage to the local community and raise awareness about its protection and preservation.
A number of activities took place on that day, including a reconstruction of a simulated archaeological dig site, replicating all the stages of an excavation. This involved the recreation of a mock archaeological area with buried artefact replicas. As school children uncovered the replicas, archaeologists from CeRPHAAL explained the excavation process and the techniques used in archaeology.
This outreach activity helped students to understand how an archaeological dig works, as well as to appreciate its importance in reconstructing past human life.
