New Museum exhibition Opens in the town of Përmet

In late March and early April 2022, CeRPHAAL team worked to prepare a museum exhibition showcasing archaeological artefacts found in the territory of the Upper Vjosa Valley. This activity was co-organized with the Municipality of Përmet and the collection was displayed in the recently opened museum of the city. The collection was previously inaccessible to the public, therefore many of the artefacts underwent conservation and restauration processes before being displayed. The collection features artefacts uncovered during archaeological excavation conducted in the 1970s and 1980s, alongside chance finds deriving from various parts of the territory. The display collection includes stone tools, pottery vessels, jewelry objects, decorative reliefs, and construction materials, spanning from Prehistory to the Late Medieval period. Each object is labeled in both Albanian and English, providing details about its typology, dating, and place of origin. The exhibit was also enriched with informative panels detailing the history of the town of Përmet and previous archaeological excavation in the region, including a focus on the Tumulus of Piskova. This initiative aims to preserve and promote the material cultural heritage of the region, while also offering an engaging opportunity for visitors to explore and connect with the archaeology and history of the Upper Vjosa Valley.
