Our research focuses on the study of historical and cultural landscapes in Albania, with a particular emphasis on the territories of the Upper Vjosa Valley, in the southeastern part of the country. We collaborate with national and international experts to conduct comprehensive studies that contribute to the understanding and protection of specific areas of interest.
Central to our research is a GIS-based database, which provides an interactive platform for documenting and processing the field and desk-collected data.
Archaeological Surveys and Excavation Projects

Our team conduct a profound analysis of artifact materials deriving from field work, including pottery, ceramic building material, glass and metal objects.
Ethnoarchaeology and Ethnology
We examine and document cultural and traditional ecological knowledge and practises to gain understanding of the past societies and apply these time-tested historical memories to address specific environmental challenges of the present.
Historical Landscape Analysis
Our research investigates the evolution of historical landscapes, with a particular focus on settlement patterns, land-use, and management of resources during the Roman and Medieval periods.
Cultural Heritage and Tourism
We investigate the intersection between cultural heritage and tourism, assessing how territories and historical sites can be integrated into sustainable tourism practices that provide benefits to local communities, while promoting a balance between development and conservation.
