Project Summary

The INCULTUM project deals with the challenges and opportunities of cultural tourism with the aim of furthering sustainable social, cultural and economic development. It will explore the full potential of marginal and peripheral areas when managed by local communities and stakeholders. Innovative participatory approaches will be adopted, transforming locals into protagonists, able to reduce negative impacts, learning from and improving good practices to be replicated and translated into strategies and policies. The project involves 15 partners from interdisciplinary backgrounds, coordinated by the University of Granada, and covers 10 pilot territories.

CeRPHAAL’s role in the project

CeRPHAAL leads the pilot 8: Vjosa valley, the shared river, focusing on both the tangible and intangible heritage of the Vlach community. This initiative aims at recording, preserving, and promoting the currently endangered cultural values of this minority group. Through a ground-up approach, the pilot action seeks to recreate aspects of the Vlachs’ past, while also creating opportunities to explore the cultural and natural heritage of the broader territory of the Upper Vjosa Valley.
